London Wedding & Documentary photography

The person behind the camera.

Hannah Bain

I'm Hannah, a documentary wedding photographer based in South East London.
I photograph weddings with a calm, thoughtful approach, quietly observing the moments that often pass unnoticed. The laughter during speeches, the hugs between family members, the way a venue feels before guests arrive—these are the details that become part of the story.
At home, you'll usually find me with my husband, our two children and our Jack Russell, Edith.

Alongside photography, I've spent over 15 years working as a designer. That background has shaped the way I see weddings—through light, composition, architecture and the small details that give every celebration its own character.
I photograph a limited number of weddings each year so I can give every couple my full attention, from our first conversation through to the final gallery.
My Philosophy
I don't believe your wedding should revolve around photography.
It should revolve around the people you've chosen to celebrate with.
The best photographs rarely come from carefully following a shot list. They happen in the quieter moments, the glance across a room, the laughter during a speech, the way your grandparents hold hands, or the atmosphere of a place before everyone arrives.
That's why I spend most of the day observing rather than directing. I'll gently guide you when it's helpful, but my role is never to interrupt the celebration. Instead, I want you to be completely present, knowing your story is unfolding naturally in front of my camera.
My background in design has shaped the way I see the world. I'm drawn to light, architecture, colour and composition just as much as emotion. The venue isn't simply the backdrop to your wedding—it's part of the story itself.
Years from now, I hope your photographs do more than remind you what your wedding looked like. I hope they take you back to how it felt.
