Why I Became a Wedding Photographer
People often ask me, "Why did you become a photographer?" and I love reflecting on this question. Photography wasn't always a career I thought I could pursue. In fact, as a little girl, I didn't know it was even a possibility. But life has a funny way of leading you to where you're meant to be, and for me, that happened at the age of 36.
Photography has always been a passion of mine, though I didn't know it would become my career until much later in life. I remember feeling frustrated as a child when I couldn't capture the world around me with a paintbrush or pencil the way I wanted. That's when photography entered my life. It became the perfect medium for me to freeze moments in time, to capture images and the emotions and stories behind them. That's what drew me in—telling real stories through a lens.
The real turning point came after years of working as a designer and creative, and later, after the birth of my child. I had already built a freelance career, but photography gave me a new spark. Suddenly, I realised that the joy I felt in capturing weddings, families, and couples wasn't just a hobby but something I was meant to do. The emotions, the connections, the love—I could capture it all, and that's what made me fall in love with wedding photography.
As a London Wedding Photographer based in South East London, my approach is relaxed and natural. I focus on capturing candid moments, genuine emotions, and the unique story of each couple's big day. Every wedding is different, and I love the challenge of capturing each one in a way that feels personal and real. From quiet moments shared between the couple to the laughter, tears, and joy of their guests—these are the moments that tell the whole story of a wedding day, and I'm honoured to be the one to capture them.
The best part about being a wedding photographer is knowing these photos will be cherished for generations. I'm not just taking pictures; I'm creating something timeless—memories that couples can look back on and feel as if they're living that moment all over again.
Looking back, I never thought I would end up here, building a business that allows me to connect with couples, witness their love, and capture their most important moments. But life guides you toward your true passion, even if it takes a little longer. And for me, it was worth the wait.
